What this app is
DentedSocialPoster is a WordPress plugin called DP Social Publisher that connects a WordPress website to a Threads account. It enables site owners to publish posts to Threads and display Threads replies on their site.
Who controls your data
DP Social Publisher is a self-hosted WordPress plugin. Your data is stored on your own WordPress server, not on any server operated by Dented Printer. The developer does not have access to your data.
What data is collected and where it is stored
When you connect your Threads account, the following is stored in your WordPress site's database (accessible only to administrators of your site):
- Threads numeric user ID
- Threads username
- Threads access token (used to publish on your behalf)
- Token expiry timestamp
When posts are published to Threads, the following is stored as post metadata on your WordPress site:
- Threads post ID
- Threads post URL
- Threads like count (periodically refreshed)
Replies fetched from Threads are stored as WordPress comments on your site.
The OAuth relay
To authorise the connection between your WordPress site and Threads, your browser is temporarily redirected through a relay hosted at dentedprinter.com. This relay exchanges your authorisation code for an access token on your behalf.
The relay stores no data.
It receives the authorisation code from Meta, exchanges it for a token, and immediately forwards that token to your WordPress site. No logs, no database, no persistent storage of any kind.
How your data is used
Your Threads access token is used solely to:
- Publish posts to Threads on your behalf
- Fetch replies, like counts, and post metadata from Threads
- Automatically refresh your access token before it expires (approximately every 60 days)
Your data is never sold, shared, or used for advertising.
Third-party services
This app communicates with Meta's Threads API (graph.threads.net). By connecting your Threads account, you are also subject to Meta's Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your Threads account remains connected in the WordPress admin. Disconnecting the account immediately deletes the access token, user ID, username, and expiry from your WordPress database. Uninstalling the plugin removes all stored data automatically.
GDPR — responsibility between parties
If you use DP Social Publisher on a WordPress site that serves visitors in the European Union, you (the WordPress site owner) are the data controller for any personal data collected by your site. Dented Printer acts as a tool vendor — not a data processor — because no personal data from your site visitors is transmitted to or stored by dentedprinter.com.
WordPress site owners are responsible for their own GDPR compliance with respect to data they collect from their visitors, including any Threads reply content imported and displayed on their site.
